Here is the error from /var/log/system./log: rsyncd 1329: unable to bind any inbound sockets on port 873 rsyncd 1329: rsync error: error in socket IO (code 10) at /BuildRoot/Library/Caches//Sources/rsync/rsync-47/rsync/socket. Now, I’m wondering if I should launch it as systemd service (but then it would be a system-wide server running silently in the background). I want to run rsync in daemon mode but Im unable to do it. This has been what has traditionally been recommended. I have always started DavMail using /usr/bin/davmail via KDE Autostart. Maybe someone more knowledgeable than me can shed more light on this. Something has clearly changed between openSUSE 12.2 and 13.1 with regards to the shutdown process. So, while I don’t yet have a solution, I now know the cause. Tcp 0 0 localhost:iclpv-dm *:* LISTEN 861/java Tcp 0 0 localhost:blackjack *:* LISTEN 861/java Tcp 0 0 localhost:smtp *:* LISTEN 872/master Tcp 0 0 localhost:socks *:* LISTEN 861/java Tcp 0 0 localhost:imyx *:* LISTEN 861/java Tcp 0 0 localhost:webadmstart *:* LISTEN 861/java Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address State PID/Program name When it starts I then have ps -A|grep javaĪnd the original process is bound to the portsĪctive Internet connections (only servers) It will also provide an Unix socket that is used by Postfix for SMTP. When the OS is rebooted, it appears that the application is not closed properly, and the result is that a java process is already alive before davmail is started, ps -A|grep java You can connect to ejabberd using an X-OAUTH2 token that is valid in the scope. Now that I’ve found to check further, I note that when davmail is running, there is an associated java process running (it is a java application after all). I’d be interested to know whether other DavMail gateway users are experiencing similar issues, or perhaps know of a possible fix or workaround… I think it may be related to systemd changes, but can’t be sure. If I terminate DavMail and restart it behaves okay, as does suspend/resume. Through a bit of research and trial and error, I have found that I can release the ports manually with fuser -k -n tcp 1025 Unable to bind server socket for LDAP on port 1389: port not allowed or in use by another process Unable to bind server socket for CALDAV on port 1080: port not allowed or in use by another process Unable to bind server socket for IMAP on port 1143: port not allowed or in use by another process Unable to bind server socket for POP on port 1110: port not allowed or in use by another process sys-apps/openrc: Failed to umount loopback filessystem at halt if a bind. Shortly after configuring, I noticed that upon reboot (or shutdown) and starting DavMail again it complains with the following port binding messages Unable to bind server socket for SMTP on port 1025: port not allowed or in use by another process Bug:84457 - New ebuild for the C++ socket library from Anders Hedstrm. The port number has to be higher than 1024. Anyway, I figured out that I can run the rsync daemon with the -port option. I connect to an exchange server for work email and calendars, using Thunderbird and DavMail. That's the problem, I don't know what I did. However, I still have a problem with my calendar not syncing or being available in my Gnome calendar, so no built-in notifications / calendar on Gnome still, which is bit of a bummer.I have just moved from openSUSE 12.2 to 13.1 (clean install). Update: Signing into my account from Evolution (followed this: ) worked. Loka 10 09:16:20 fedora gnome-control-c: goa_ews_client_autodiscover() failed: 7 - Could not connect: Socket I/O timed outĪny idea what I could try? I really liked using Evolution and having my calendar synced to Gnome calendar when working. I tried removing my Echange account from settings and adding it back, but when I do, I get the following message from journalctl: loka 10 09:15:21 fedora gnome-control-c: goa_ews_client_autodiscover() failed: 404 - Not Found I've resorted to using Outlook Web App until I can figure this out. It's mainly a problem that I can't use Evolution (email) desktop app and I can't sync my meetings to my Gnome calendar. Hi! Does anyone have any ideas if there is something wrong on my end that I could fix, because as of recently updating Fedora (just installing system updates from the Software manager), I can no longer sync my Microsoft Exchange account (work account).

I uninstalled Box, rebooted, installed Box and cancelled at the Login screen. Also, another common hack is to keep the laptop on an elevated surface to ensure that the bottom portion of the system receives continuous airflow.I tried something different, which appears to have worked. Keeping the laptop on a clean surface can ensure that the fans don’t get blocked by dust. You should also avoid over-charging any electronic device as it damages the battery and can lead to abrupt overheating problems in laptops and several other devices. Laptop overheating while gaming or other rigorous tasks is a common occurrence in our day-to-day lives.Īdditionally, it is always recommended to operate laptops in a well-ventilated and air-conditioned environment. Thus, we saw various methods that can either subside the problem of laptop overheating temporarily or completely solve it for once and all. Replace the Charger and Batteryįinally, if the above methods have not solved the issue of overheating, then you can consider purchasing a new charger or laptop battery as sometimes a faulty charger or an older battery can cause the temperature to quickly raise and disrupt the system’s performance. Device Manager – This is yet another destination from where you can find the installed graphics driver on your system and update them manually with the help of Windows.Manual Update – This can be done by searching for the required drivers on the Manufacturer’s website and installing it on your system. There are multiple ways to update the graphics drivers as it can significantly impact its performance and take care of laptop overheating symptoms. You can set the integrated GPU as the default processor once you have ensured to check your graphics control panels tool like Nvidia or AMD. The laptop may underperform during gaming though. Integrated graphics cards don’t consume the same amount of power and consecutively don’t produce so much heat. Therefore, a temporary fix to prevent overheating is to use the integrated GPU instead of the dedicated one. However, it also gives rise to overheating problems. The dedicated graphics card provides a superior gaming experience and also ensures that it is capable of rendering a balanced performance. Gaming laptops come with a dedicated graphics card along with an integrated graphics card. Thus, reducing the FPS to a value of 60 is highly recommended. Lower the FPSįor better gaming and video viewing experience, having higher frames per second (FPS) is preferred often but did you know that it also overheats your laptop? At times, reducing the clock value below the default can further reduce the energy consumptions and thereby lower the heating tendency of the machine however, this can reduce the performance too. Thus, altering the clock settings to the default value may prevent laptop overheating. Under certain circumstances, if you have overclocked your graphics card, CPU, or any other components, then it can cause overheating problems as overclocking makes the components work at a faster rate to perform more operations per second.
